Parineeti Chopra Talks About Her ‘Beautiful Industry’ And How Nobody Can ‘Dare to do Anything Immoral’ to a Woman Associated With YRF – Parineeti Chopra: No One Would Dare to do Anything Immoral to Anyone Working With Yash And Aditya Chopra.
In the rise of MeToo movement in India, many prominent people from the industry including journalists, comedians and from other fields as well have been exposed. Many celebrities came out in support of the victims and many got the courage to narrate their nerve-wracking stories. Recently, Parineeti Chopra was asked about the Me Too movement at the song launch of Proper Patola from Namaste England.
The actress said that she hopes it is not the start of the Me Too movement. She received a lot of mixed emotions on her comment from Twitterati. In an interview with The Times of India, the actor clarified what she actually meant and that she hoped it would not be a start because, “then more stories will tumble out and we’ll have to witness more women who have been hurt; actors, directors and choreographers who have been wronged in a beautiful industry like ours”.
Parineeti further added that she is trying to avoid discomfort and conflict but she reiterated that if there are women who have been hurt then they should speak up.
When further asked if being Priyanka Chopra’s sister and represented by YRF ensured her protection from the predators of Bollywood, Parineeti said, “I started my career under the leadership of Yash and Aditya Chopra. No one would dare to do anything immoral to anyone working with them. At the start of my career, my dad was skeptical and had asked me if I need my mother to be with me all the time. I told him that times have changed. The working environment in the film industry is young and cool now, there are more women on a film set than men”.
In the past few days, many women not only from Bollywood but from the other industries as well, have come forward and narrated their traumatising stories of assault. It all started with Tanushree Dutta’s allegations against Nana Patekar. Celebrities such as Vikas Bahl, Zulfi Syed, Rajat Kapoor, Kailash Kher, Chetan Bhagat, Rajat Kapoor, Ronit Roy and others have been accused so far of sexual assault.
